Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

The libraries in the Thermodynamics domain can be used to model complex thermal interactions in fluids, gases, and solids. They apply to the modeling of processes in heating and cooling systems, air conditioners, or heat engines, as well as thermal phenomena in other applications, such as the thermal behavior of driveline components.

SimulationX Thermodynamics Libraries

Thermics

The Thermics library is suitable for investigating and dimensioning of the thermal behavior of plants, machines and equipment. The library elements allow fast and efficient modeling in terms of thermal networks. The models are applicable to steady-state as well as transient thermal behavior analysis. Parameterization takes place mainly based on geometry data and is supported by a comprehensive database of material properties. Thermal models in SimulationX can easily be linked with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic sub-models.

Thermo Fluid

The Thermo Fluid elements allow the simulation of the steady state as well as the transient behavior of systems where heat and mass transfer plays a decisive role. In particular processes with one- and two- phase behavior of gases and liquids as well as mixtures of gases can be modeled. A comprehensive database of fluid properties is provided. The database comprises fluids like refrigerants, moist air, NIST fluids, gases, gas mixtures of gases and more. Due to the fact that thermo fluid elements can be easily connected to elements from other physical domains such as Mechanics or Controls, very complex technical processes can be simulated. The models are setup in accordance with the circuit diagram which reflects the typical approach to describing such technical systems.

TIL

TIL is a Modelica library for steady-state and transient simulation of fluid systems such as heat pump or air conditioning developed by TLK-Thermo GmbH and TU Braunschweig, Institute for Thermodynamics.

TIL uses the object-based Modelica library TILMedia to access the computation routines for fluid property data of REFPROP or other fluid databases.
